Anchors are long, small diameter cylinders with approximately 90% or
more of the length underground. They are used for anchoring various types of towers such as communication antennas.
A high powered magnetostrictive transducer (MsT) was developed for testing buried anchor rods. The MsT probe has a solenoidal excitation coil wrapped around a FeCo strip, and a belt of built in permanent magnets providing permanent magnetization of the FeCo.
